Business mogul and singer Rihanna dated fellow singer Chris Brown on and off from 2007 to 2009. This is after the singer had launched her music career with a debut album. In February 8, 2009, Chris Brown assaulted Rihanna after an argument that led to a physical altercation. This led to Chris Brown being publicly scrutinized after photos of Rihanna's bruised faced went viral.
According to Brown, the argument started when they attended Clive Davis's pre- Grammy party. He claimed that the argument started when a woman he previously had sexual relations with came up to them at the event. He went ahead to tell Rihanna that he never knew that woman would attend the event. Their fight struck back again when Rihanna found text messages between that woman and her then boyfriend.
“The thing men don't realize when they hit a woman, it's the face, the broken arm, the black eye, it's going to heal. That's not the problem. It's the scar inside,” Rihanna said in a November 2009 interview with Diane Sawyer. According to Chris Brown, Rihanna hit him first then he lost his temper.
American rapper Joseph Antonio Cartegena, famously known as Fat Joe claoms that Chris Brown would’ve been the next Michael Jackson if not for his altercation with Rihanna. He refers to Chris Brown as the most talented singer, artist and performer of this time. He claims that there is nobody close to Chris Brown, in terms of his talent. According to Fat Joe, it is time for people to move forward from the situation because it has been more than 20 years.
“If Chris Brown never got into controversy with Rihanna, we would be calling him Michael Jackson right now… its time we move past it. The streets still pumping R.Kelly. He’s in jail, he did terrible things. There’s nobody even close to Chris Brown,” he said.
