Kandi Burruss, known for her role on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta", recently opened up about her underwhelming experience with the popular weight loss drug Ozempic. In an interview on PageSix's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast on June 25, the
Xscape singer shared her frustration with the medication.
"Last year, I tried it", Kandi revealed. "I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight. So, I was like, Okay, I'm going to try this. I didn't lose any weight. Ozempic, an FDA-approved Type 2 diabetes medication, has gained traction as a weight loss drug in recent years. However, Kandi's experience with the drug was far from successful. "My doctor was like, ‘I don't know what the problem is, I'm not seeing this in other people", she explained. "It didn't curb my appetite. I know some people are like, Oh, I can't eat. Not me! I was eating appetizers, a regular meal and dessert, okay? It didn't stop anything for me".
The unexpected results left Kandi feeling disheartened. "When you see it worked for other people and it doesn't work for you, it makes you depressed",she admitted. "Realistically, it makes you feel like, ‘What is wrong with me? Why is it not working for me"? Kandi's weight loss journey began earlier this year after she announced her departure from RHOA after 14 years on TV. "When I announced that I was not going to do Housewives anymore, I was eating dessert every day, taking trips, just living it up",the 48-year-old shared. "And it was not cute'.
Determined to achieve her goal weight, Kandi has since adopted a healthier lifestyle. She is now focusing on healthy eating, exercising, and using Hydroxy cut to help reach her target. "I would love, love to overall lose 30 so that I can be into my 130s", she said. I have this joke, like, I haven't weighed 130-something since I was 30-something. With her new approach, Kandi is committed to being her "best self" and is optimistic about her weight loss journey ahead.
