Renowned rapper Travis Scott, 33, was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication. The incident, which occurred at a local marina, has thrust the Grammy-nominated artist back into the spotlight.
According to the Miami Beach Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call at 300 Alton Road dock D around 2:15 AM. Scott, whose legal name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was allegedly yelling at occupants of a yacht from the dock.
The police report states that Scott refused multiple requests to leave the premises and became increasingly belligerent. "Throughout the long walk from the vessel to the boardwalk, the defendant walked backwards yelling obscenities to the occupants of the vessel," officers noted in the arrest affidavit.
After briefly leaving the scene, Scott reportedly returned within minutes, bypassing officers and attempting to re-board the yacht. His erratic behavior allegedly disturbed nearby residents and marina occupants, leading to his arrest.
When questioned by police, Scott admitted to consuming alcohol, reportedly stating, "It's Miami." He was subsequently booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at approximately 4:35 AM. Bond was set at $650 for the two charges.
This incident comes at a crucial time for Scott, who is scheduled to begin his European tour, Circus Maximus, on June 28 in the Netherlands. The arrest also reignites discussions about the artist's past controversies, including the tragic events at his 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston, which resulted in ten fatalities.
Scott, known for hit songs like "Sicko Mode" and "Goosebumps," has been a prominent figure in the hip-hop scene for years. He shares two children with reality TV star and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.
The rapper's legal team has yet to release an official statement regarding the arrest. However, Scott seemed to make light of the situation on social media, tweeting "Lol" at 8:45 AM and later sharing an edited version of his mugshot on Instagram.
This arrest marks another chapter in Scott's tumultuous career, which has been marked by both significant musical achievements and high-profile controversies. It remains to be seen how this incident will impact his upcoming tour and ongoing projects.
Local authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and additional details may be released as they become available. As the story develops, fans and critics alike are closely watching to see how Scott and his team will address this latest legal challenge.
