Deon and Karen Derrico are taking their separate paths. After 19 years of marriage, the couple, who have revealed their life raising their 14 children, including four sets of multiples, on the TLC series Doubling Down with the Derricos, announced that they were divorcing.
"Together, we remain unified in the parenting of our 14 beautiful children—their well-being is our priority," Deon and Karen stated in a June 17 statement obtained by E! News. "We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family."
According to paperwork TMZ was able to get, the pair, who wed in 2005, filed for divorce on June 4 and finalised it two days later, on June 6. Deon and Karen, who are parents to Darian, 18, Derrick, 13, triplets Dawsyn, De'Aren, and Dyver, 4, and quintuplets Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daiten, and Daician, 10, will divide legal and physical custody of their children.
According to TMZ, Deon will also pay $1,166 monthly in child support, with Karen handling the children's health insurance.
The show Doubling Down with the Derricos, which debuted in 2020, chronicles the daily life of the family living in Las Vegas, Nevada. The now-divorced couple's misalignment has been partially revealed in the currently aired season five, which includes footage of their arguments about where their daughter Darian should attend college and their hunt for a new residence. The patriarch and matriarch have already demonstrated a united front despite their separation, even though they are no longer together.
After all, Karen honoured her ex-husband with a video collage of his pictures on Father's Day, June 16, which just passed.
"Happy Father's Day to the best father any 14 children can ask for!" In the Instagram post, Karen wrote, "To all of the wonderful fathers out there as well! May you have a day full of love, happiness, and relaxation on this Father's Day.
