Misa Hylton has shared her thoughts a few days after a 2016 video showing her ex-boyfriend Sean "Diddy" Combs abusing his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was made public. On May 21, Hylton posted on Instagram, saying, "I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her." "I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma."

Together with the statement, the 51-year-old shared pictures of all of the Combs' children, including their 30-year-old son Justin. The first slide featured his two boys, Christian, age 26, and Justin, age 32, whom he shared with his late former partner, Kim Porter. The second slide showed the daughters of Combs: 17-year-old Chance with Sarah Chapman; 17-month-old Love with Dana Tran; and the twins D'Lila and Jessie, 17 with Porter. "These young people were raised by women who want the best for them; we put God and education first and have always been united in our mutual effort to support their dreams," Hylton stated. "Two of the youngest do not have their mother here, and it has been our duty to support them."

She ended the piece by saying, "Their father needs help, and I am praying that he truly does the personal work and receives it." Three days after Combs made public the surveillance footage, Hylton responded. In a hotel hallway, Combs was seen kicking, pulling, and grabbing Cassie. CNN said that the video was shot in March 2016; however, E! News has not independently confirmed this.

In an Instagram video posted on May 19, Combs stated, "It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that." "I was completely screwed up. I reached my lowest point. But I have no justifications. My actions in that video are unacceptable. I accept complete accountability for the things I did in that video."

According to NBC News, Combs is currently the target of five further civil cases that were filed in New York since last fall, alleging that he engaged in sexual assault, trafficking in persons, and other criminal offenses. These lawsuits are not his only legal issues at the time. He has refuted each and every accusation.
