Drake is back, and he brought reinforcements. The embattled rapper stunned fans Friday by dropping not one but three albums simultaneously: the long-awaited Iceman, plus two surprise records, Habibti and Maid of Honour. At the end of his Iceman livestream, Drake produced three hard drives as text flashed on screen reading: "I made this so that I could make this."
The triple release marks Drake's first solo project since his bruising 2024 feud with Kendrick Lamar, whose diss track "Not Like Us" won multiple Grammys and dealt a serious blow to the Toronto rapper's public image.
Drake, 39, does not shy away from the fallout on Iceman. The album takes direct aim at Lamar throughout, with lines poking at his rival's fanbase and appearing to accuse Universal Music Group of inflating stream counts for "Not Like Us," claims that form part of Drake's ongoing defamation lawsuit against the label. He also appears to suggest that members of Kendrick's camp attempted to broker peace before Lamar released more music. "You saw my brother, you was tryna fix it, now you drop your album and you back dissing," Drake raps.
The album features production from longtime collaborator Noah "40" Shebib, with guest appearances from Future, rising star Molly Santana, 21 Savage and others. Comedian Shane Gillis and media personality DJ Akademiks also make cameos.
Drake revealed Iceman's release date last month through an elaborate stunt, a 25-foot ice sculpture erected in downtown Toronto that fans hacked apart with pickaxes until streamer Kishka uncovered a hidden bag containing the album title and drop date.
Habibti, an Arabic term of endearment, features appearances from Sexyy Red and PARTYNEXTDOOR among others. Maid of Honour, the more female-focused of the three, includes collaborations with Central Cee and Popcaan. Together, the three albums total over 40 tracks.
