Meghan Markle sent tennis icon, Serena Williams, a PR package, but fans have questioned her intentions.
Meghan Markle's best friend, Serena Williams, shared a bizarre unboxing of a PR package from Meghan's brand, As Ever, prompting fans to question their friendship. Tennis icon Serena was among a few to receive a PR parcel filled with the Mother's Day edit, which included candles and a £42 box of chocolates.
Instead of opting for a high-quality shot, Serena Williams chose to share a package showing the chocolates falling out of their spaces and slightly crushed in the box, claiming she "doesn't like chocolate" but adding they were "beautiful" and "delicious".
In the clip, Serena said: "Anyway, the chocolate was beautiful. It was delicious. I don't like chocolate, but I have been killing them. So good."
One fan on X wrote: "I love how she showed the stained box, with the chocolates all jacked up."
Another added: "Yeah, it's pretty clear how she feels about old Megsy. She sounds exhausted from her like the rest of us."
A third said: "The chocolate is stuck together. What rubbish. Claims of sold out but sending it to 'friends' for advertising?"
One questioned the packaging: "Is half the box empty or are these squares all stuck together. I've never seen a box of chocolates where the chocolates escaped their nests. The box looks really flimsy. Not at all pleasing. Is Serena cross with Mad Meg? Seems so, otherwise why embarrass mad meg like this."
Meghan Markle's friendship with Serena Williams has lasted years. Meghan met Serena briefly in 2010 and again in 2014, explaining on her now-defunct blog, The Tig, that the pair "hit it off immediately".
The marketing box received by Serena included on her social media video uploaded onto Instagram, showed a handwritten letter from Meghan, who said: "I developed the scents over the last year so that every note melded together to take me right back to a special memory with them."
"I can light the candle, close my eyes, and I'm right there, "Meghan's message read. "The memorable moments of motherhood."
