Chart-topping rapper Latto is entering a new chapter of radical transparency and unapologetic privacy. In a striking new cover story for Paper Magazine, the 27-year-old artist (born Alyssa Stephens) addressed the relentless public fascination with her romantic life, asserting that she no longer feels the need to validate her relationship to the world.

For years, Latto’s dating life, specifically her long-rumored romance with fellow rapper 21 Savage, has been treated as an “open secret” by fans and media alike. Despite a “soft launch” of the relationship in late 2025 and her habit of referring to her partner as “my man” in interviews, she has largely kept the finer details of their union behind closed doors.

“I have nothing to prove to anyone. I have no rumor to clear up,” Latto told Paper’s Brook Aster. “I’ve been with my man for years now, and it ain’t going nowhere. To me, that’s clearly a result of me moving and operating how I do.”

The “Big Energy” rapper explained that the decision to maintain boundaries is a strategic move to protect both her peace and her professional identity. She noted that female artists are often pressured to monetize their personal lives, which can lead to the music being overshadowed by tabloid narratives. “I don’t want to make that the forefront of my existence, my career,” she stated. “I got a man at home, I’m happy and I’m well taken care of, and that’s about all anyone needs to know.”

The interview also served as the official visual debut of Latto’s “Big Mama” era. Photographed by Richie Shazam, the editorial features the rapper proudly displaying her baby bump, confirming she is expecting her first child. She admitted that while she initially feared motherhood might “slow her down,” she now feels more motivated than ever.

As she prepares to release her latest album, which she says was largely written and recorded sober during her pregnancy, Latto is prioritizing a “connected relationship” with herself. For the Atlanta star, 2026 isn’t about clearing the air, it’s about “operating from a place of security” and letting the music speak for the life she’s built.
