Desiigner, the Brooklyn rapper best known for his multi-platinum 2016 hit “Panda,” has been arrested in South Carolina following an alleged physical altercation with the mother of his child. According to reports from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office released on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the 28-year-old artist was taken into custody on suspicion of third-degree domestic violence.
The arrest stems from a domestic incident that reportedly took place on March 2, 2026. According to the police report, the alleged victim, who recently welcomed a son with the rapper, claimed that Desiigner (born Sidney Royel Selby III) arrived at their home in an agitated state. The woman told authorities that when she attempted to leave the residence to retrieve luggage she had accidentally left at the airport, Selby became physically aggressive.
In her statement to police, the woman alleged that Selby ripped her car keys away from her with such force that he tore her sweatpants. She further claimed that after she attempted to prevent him from placing their infant son into a car seat, Selby threw her to the ground. While the child reportedly did not witness the physical struggle directly, the mother was left with minor scratches on her arm and lower back.
By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene on the night of the incident, Selby had already left the premises. He remained at large for approximately three weeks before he was apprehended and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center earlier this week. Records indicate that he was released on a $1,500 bond shortly after his booking.
This latest legal trouble follows a difficult few years for the artist. In 2023, Desiigner faced a federal charge of indecent exposure after an incident on an international flight from Thailand to Tokyo, for which he was sentenced to two years of probation and 120 hours of community service. Following that incident, the rapper publicly addressed his mental health struggles, stating he was seeking professional help and checking himself into a facility.
Representatives for Desiigner have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the South Carolina charges. Under state law, a third-degree domestic violence conviction can carry a penalty of up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
