Jen Shah is officially out of federal custody, closing one of reality TV’s most controversial chapters after serving less than three years of her six-and-a-half-year sentence. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum, 52, was released early Wednesday morning from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, according to a representative who confirmed the news shortly after her departure.
Shah’s release marks a major milestone in a legal saga that began with her March 2021 arrest for a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme targeting vulnerable individuals, many of them over 55. While she initially pleaded not guilty, Shah eventually admitted to conspiracy to
commit wire fraud in July 2022, acknowledging in court that her actions were wrong and harmed innocent people.
Her early release comes after multiple sentence reductions, which the Bureau of Prisons attributed to good behavior, program participation, and restitution efforts. Shah has been ordered to pay $6.5 million to victims, a process she began inside the facility where she served her time alongside other high-profile inmates.
Where she headed next remains undisclosed, as federal policy allows inmates in her category to either return home or transition to a halfway house under supervision. Her team has requested privacy while she reunites with her family, a moment her manager described as “a gift she doesn’t take for granted.”
Those close to Shah say she is returning to society with a renewed focus on family, accountability and rebuilding. Ahead of her release, her manager said she had undergone “real growth” and was determined to show she is no longer the woman she was before her incarceration. Throughout her sentence, her husband Sharrieff “Coach” Shah and their two sons maintained steady support, with Jen often crediting faith, therapy and prayer for keeping her grounded.
Despite fan speculation, a Bravo comeback is not in the cards. Andy Cohen has repeatedly stated that Shah will not return to RHOSLC, a position he stressed again this year.
