Brandy Norwood has spoken out after her sudden exit from the stage during her co-headlining concert with Monica in Chicago, an incident that left fans stunned and concerned.
The 46-year-old Grammy winner took to Instagram on Sunday, October 19, to address what happened the previous night at the United Center. “Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and, most importantly, your prayers,” she began. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, I experienced dehydration and dizziness. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
Brandy revealed that she initially tried to push through the show despite feeling unwell. “I made the decision to return and give it my all,” she continued, “but with the show being so technical, it became impossible to fully connect with the production.”
Videos posted online showed Brandy stepping offstage mid-song, telling fans she needed “one second.” She never returned, prompting Monica
to finish the remainder of the concert solo. The pair had been scheduled to close with their timeless 1998 hit, “The Boy Is Mine.”
In her statement, Brandy also thanked her longtime friend and tour partner for her professionalism. “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and care, and to the crew for supporting me through the night. After leaving the arena, I saw a doctor nearby and have taken the right steps to recover.”
Brandy assured fans she’s already on the mend and plans to resume the Boy Is Mine Tour in Indianapolis. “Your understanding, patience, and
unwavering belief mean the world to me,” she wrote. “I’ll be back onstage, stronger, healthier, and more grateful than ever, alongside my girl Monica.”
Monica later reposted Brandy’s message on her Instagram Story, signaling solidarity and friendship as the two R&B icons continue their long-awaited reunion tour.
