Regina Hall recently opened up about why she once considered dedicating her life to the church and becoming a nun. Speaking on Amy Poehler's podcast *Good Hang*, the actress explained that the idea first came to her during her teenage years in Catholic school, where she was deeply influenced by the kindness and care of the nuns she grew up around.

Their compassion left a lasting impression, and she admired the life of service and devotion they represented. Hall admitted that she thought about it again later in life, especially in her early forties, when the idea felt like a genuine option. However, she discovered there was an age limit for the particular order she had been drawn to. She recalled being told she was past the cutoff and joked that although she was interested, the rules of the order were clear and they did not bend them for latecomers.

Hall explained what made the idea of convent life so appealing. For her, the possibility of living without the challenges of romantic heartbreak stood out. She spoke about how relationships can bring joy but also pain when they end or face difficulties. To her, the commitment of nuns to a higher purpose offered a way to bypass those struggles and focus on something more constant. She described how the discipline of prayer, acts of service, and the detachment from material possessions could lead to a sense of peace and freedom. The structure of that life felt not like a restriction, but like a different path to healing and clarity.

She also reflected on how natural the thought felt, even joking that if past lives exist, she might have been a nun before. That familiarity made the prospect seem less unusual and more like a calling she could recognize. Even though she ultimately did not pursue life in a convent, Hall said the idea still brings her comfort. The faith she holds remains important, and she continues to carry with her the lessons and feelings she associated with that possibility. For her, imagining a life centered on prayer and service has always felt like a reminder of inner peace, one that continues to shape her perspective today.
