Ayesha Howard, the former partner of Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, is reportedly seeking $500,000 and a public apology before finalizing a sole custody agreement for their young daughter. The alleged demands have added a new layer of tension to an already sensitive family matter, which has drawn public attention due to Edwards’ rising NBA profile.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Howard’s conditions are not solely about money but also about respect and acknowledgment. The $500,000 request is said to be intended for securing their daughter’s future, covering long-term expenses such as education, healthcare, and living arrangements. However, the public apology appears to be equally important to Howard, who reportedly wants Edwards to affirm her integrity and recognize her dedication as a mother.
The situation comes as Edwards continues to establish himself as one of the NBA’s brightest young stars. Known for his explosive scoring ability and charismatic personality, the 23-year-old guard has become a fan favorite and a key figure in the Timberwolves’ playoff hopes. Yet, his personal life has occasionally drawn attention, with reports of disputes over custody and financial support surfacing in recent months.
Howard, who has largely stayed out of the public spotlight, has reportedly taken primary responsibility for their daughter’s upbringing since the couple’s separation. Sources say she feels a formal acknowledgment from Edwards would go a long way in protecting her reputation and ensuring her sacrifices are recognized. This comes after Howard revealed she could no longer post her daughter online or speak about Edwards as per some provisions put in place.
In a statement shared by the U.S weekly, Howard claims money has nothing to do with the custody agreement, saying, “ My request for compensation was never tied to agreeing to any custody orders. I asked for compensation due to the substantial financial and reputational damages I’ve endured during this prolonged litigation with Anthony Edwards.”
