The legal battle surrounding Wendy Williams’ guardianship continues to intensify as her guardian’s attorney refutes allegations regarding her treatment and living conditions.

A letter from the lawyer representing Wendy’s court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was sent to TMZ, calling much of the media coverage "untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading." The attorney emphasized that the guardianship was established by a judge and not by Morrissey herself. Wendy, who was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), has been living in an assisted care facility. Despite this, she has insisted she is not cognitively impaired and is actively fighting the court order.

Wendy has repeatedly claimed that she is restricted from making calls, receiving visitors, or even leaving her memory care unit on the fifth floor of her facility. In a recent interview with Harvey Levin, she stated, “I am not allowed to go out… I can call you, but you can’t call me.” She further revealed, “In the last 30 days, I went out twice, for my teeth.” Harvey responded, “Even people who are in prison for murder get an hour a day outside.”

Morrissey’s attorney, however, disputed these claims, asserting that Wendy has access to “excellent medical care, a spa, a workout room, excellent food, a dining room, and outside terraces.” The lawyer also noted that Wendy had traveled to Florida twice recently to see her family.

Wendy has argued that her finances are tightly controlled by her guardian. “My money is, like, in the air,” she told _Good Day New York_, adding that she requires permission for expenses. The lawyer representing Morrissey stated that the guardian has only received one payment of under $30,000 since 2022 and has otherwise been working without pay.

The judge overseeing Wendy’s guardianship, Lisa Sokoloff, has expressed frustration over her speaking to the media. In an email to Wendy’s lawyer, she allegedly warned, “Tell your client that if she wants a jury, she should refrain from trying to poison the jury pool.”

Another email reportedly mentioned moving Wendy to a more restrictive facility, with the judge questioning “how well she has handled the independence she has been given.”

Despite passing a recent capacity test, Wendy remains under guardianship, with concerns that speaking out may lead to further restrictions. Sources close to her claim, “This is pure retaliation for Wendy speaking up for herself to get out of an abusive guardianship.”
