In a surprising personal gesture, Meghan Markle sent a handwritten note to podcaster Amanda Hirsch after the influencer expressed concerns about Markle's new Netflix series. The Duchess of Sussex's correspondence, dated March 2025, has sparked significant social media reaction.
Hirsch, who hosts the popular "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast with 893,000 followers, had commented on Markle's Netflix show trailer in
January 2025. "You guys I'm scared for Meghan," she wrote, concerned that the series "With Love, Meghan" might reinforce claims of inauthenticity.
"I haven't formed an opinion, I don't hate her like a lot of the world does," Hirsch stated in a January video. "I'm genuinely concerned for Meghan... it looks like it might be kind of trying to be a Martha Stewart situation that feels a little forced."
The Duchess's response was succinct yet warmly personal. "Dear Amanda, I heard you were feeling scared. Don't be! This is the fun part — let's enjoy it," Markle wrote, signing off with "As ever, Meghan." The note appeared on Markle's official stationery featuring her monogrammed "M" with a crown.
Hirsch shared her reaction on Instagram: "Obviously framing this. Beyond shook. Beyond spiraling. Did I smell the paper? Yes. Do I want my own monogram? Yes." She further declared, "Meghan, you have a fan for life."
The handwritten note has garnered mixed reactions. Many followers praised Markle's gesture as thoughtful and authentic. "I hated the show but I genuinely like her. This makes me like her even more," one supporter commented. Others questioned the continued use of royal imagery, noting, "Stationary with a crown when you fled the royal family is crazy work."
"With Love, Meghan" debuted on March 4, 2025, attracting 526,000 households in its first five days, according to Samba TV data. While this represents only a quarter of the viewership of "Harry & Meghan," Netflix has already renewed the show for a second season.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has publicly supported Markle, suggesting the Duchess has been "underestimated" despite the mixed reception to her lifestyle series.
The exchange between Markle and Hirsch highlights the Duchess's awareness of public perception and her willingness to engage directly with commentators, even as she navigates the complex relationship between royal identity and personal brand development.
