Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone died in a car crash at age 63. She was a member of the all-female hip-hop trio The Sequence and known for the hit song “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.” She had reportedly been on her way home from a show and was the only person who died in the crash. Following her death, many of her peers and collaborators have since taken to social media to share touching tributes.
“Queen! Angie. I’m devastated (heartbreak emoji). Sending prayers and love to your family, children, and the millions who loved you. You will forever be in our hearts. Fly high my soul sista,” Anthony Hamilton wrote. Leela James also took to her Instagram account, posting a picture of her and the late singer, captioning it, “ My sister, my soror, my friend!! We just spoke. One of the realest and always stayed the same! I love you G. Say it ain’t so. Nah… not this!”
Keke Wyatt thanked Angie Stone for being a wonderful friend and sister and also thanked her for being an amazing auntie to her children.
Brown Stone also shared a tribute, writing, “We are heartbroken to hear of the loss of our beautiful sister #AngieStone. Angie will always be remembered as an incredible human being and one of the greatest voices that music has ever known. We are send love and prayers to her family everyone she has ever touched with her gift. We love you and will Cherish your memory forever. Rest in eternal paradise sister.”
RnB singer, Kenny Lattimore also expressed his heartbreak following Angie Stone’s passing. “ Heartbroken by the sudden loss of my friend and soul sister, Angie Stone. We travel a lot for a living to do what we love. Always praying to leave and get back home safely. If the reported details are true, that she was leaving one show on her way to another – it’s a heartbreaking reminder of how precious life is. Angie dedicated her life to sharing her gift with the world, and it’s devastating that her family was cut short this way. Praying for her family, loves ones and all who were touched by her music. Gone too soon,” he wrote.
Angie Stone was an American soul singer and songwriter. She rose to international prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with two albums, Black Diamond and Mahogany Soul, that spawned a pair of popular singles, No More Rain and Wish I Didn’t Miss You.
