Speaking with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine's 55th anniversary issue, the 55-year-old multi-hyphenate star opened up about her journey to self-discovery post-split. "You have to be complete if you want something that's more complete," Lopez explained, addressing her need for independence after the breakup.
The couple, who rekindled their romance in 2021 following a highly publicized engagement in the early 2000s, officially parted ways when Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024 – coincidentally, their two-year wedding anniversary. Court documents obtained by TMZ listed their separation date as April 26.
Despite the heartbreak, Lopez maintains she has "not one second" of regret about their relationship, though she admitted it "almost took me out for good." The "Let's Get Loud" singer also confirmed she's not currently seeking new romance, stating firmly, "I'm not looking for anybody."
The split prompted Lopez to cancel her summer tour, a decision she now views as necessary. "I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself," she revealed, referring to her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony.
Industry insiders note that the couple's relationship had shown signs of strain in recent months. Their last public appearance together was in New York City on March 30, 2024, just weeks before their reported separation date.
Looking ahead, Lopez remains focused on her career and personal growth. She recently completed filming "Unstoppable," a project directed by Affleck, where she plays the mother of wrestler Anthony Robles. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews.
