Fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction after Nicki Minaj was not featured in Spotify's art exhibition, despite being the face of female rap. Artist Manon Biernacki took to Instagram to claim that she was asked to draw 11 portraits and a general composition for the exhibition <The Gold Standard.>

The artist created portraits for Cardi B, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Glorilla, Ice Spice, Saweetie, City Girls, Doja Cat, Flo Milli and Sexy Red. As the event went viral, social media users noticed the absence of Nicki's portrait prompting backlash at Spotify and the event. Fans complained that the exhibit did not feature older artists like Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and more. “ I keep seeing, “this was for the new generation” but I'm confused (because) Nicki's still the bar in this new generation.”

Another user went ahead to claim that Nicki has been snubbed her whole career. “Yall really be saying Nicki got her flowers but I have never seen people actually give Nicki her flowers except MTV. All all do is literally bring her down all the time so when did Nicki get her flowers,” they wrote. “Yall skipped Nicki and started giving the new girls their flowers like if they did anything in Hip-hop! When Nicki should have got honored years ago. My sis literally fought for streaming, something that makes artists money.”

RnB artist, Summer Walker expressed her disappointment in the comment section of a post from The ShadeRoom. I don’t even listen to hella Nicki cause I’m a r&b lover. But where is the Queen.. or Lil Kim at least or Missy Elliott… this mad disrespectful. This why I make my music n go home the industry weird.”

Manon Biernacki took to Instagram to showcase her first solo project and clarify that Nicki did not want to be included. She claims she was contacted to make the portraits a month and a half before by Spotify.

“The exhibition was held at @theholenyc in New York and I can't wait to share a little more of this adventure with you in the days to come. Thank you so much to all your support in this adventure and to everyone who helped make this dream a reality! They concluded: ps: don't come after me in my DMs, Nicki didn't want to be part of the show.”
