After separating from her band mate, fellow rapper Yung Miami, JT has been building her fan base from scratch. With the release of several solo projects like “Okay” “Sideways” and “No bars”, JT has finally released her debut mixtape, City Cinderella. “City Cinderella coming….7/19 ,” she wrote, announcing her mixtape. “My hands shaking posting this. Juvies we here……” When she released her mixtape cover, fans praised her for her creativity. “This one of the best covers I’ve seen from a rap girl this year ngl,” wrote one Instagram user. “BEST COVER ART OF THE YEAR. YES JT!! ,” another fan wrote on X.
The album has 16 tracks and appearances from well known artists such as rapper Jeezy, DJ Khaled, CLIP and Stunna girl. With tracks such as “JT coming”, “All stars”, “Red flowers”, “OKAY”, “90's baby”, among many others, fans are torn apart, with some praising JT, while others criticizing her flow and music generally. “JT ending her ‘Like Dat’ verse w/ “and ima baddie bitch like stunna girl” then stunna ending her ‘Lemon Pepper’ verse with “I’m pretty in real life like I’m JT” is so cute and genius,” one fan wrote on X. “I’m SO proud of you and your evolution omg & you should be proud of yourself!!!!! congrats on a GREAT project :)”
Some fans took to social media to compare “City Cinderalla” to Megan Thee Stallion's self titled album, “Megan.” “Oh JT don’t eat up miss cobra like that,” the fan wrote, posting JT and Megan's shot feet side to side. This is the picture where Megan was shot by fellow rapper and
Canadian singer, Tory Lanez after leaving Kylie Jenner's house party. Tory Lanez is currently serving sentence for shooting Megan as well as illegal possession of a firearm. “GIVE JT HER 10s, she came and she delivered. She showed vulnerability, she had fun songs and she showed her true rap/hip hop abilities she’s really THAT GIRL #citycinderella ,” one fan wrote, claiming that the album showed JT's rap skills and versatility.
In as much as JT was praised for her rap skills, production and bringing out every aspect of life on her latest mixtape, some fans thought that it was not good enough. “In the words of Azaelia Banks… 16 tracks, ALL SKIPS (trash emoji)” “ The album isn't good and we gotta stop gassing
up mediocrity if we really want to see our faves win and reach their full potential,” another fan expressed on the Neighborhood talk's page. Several other fans went ahead to accuse those who like the album of lying. “JT never switched up flows so yall can kill all versatile talk, she's a
1 dimensional very slow rapper.”
