Yung Miami took to social media to announce that she will be dropping a surprise this coming Friday, May 17th 2024 in celebration of pride month coming this June. Pride month is dedicated to celebrate and commemorate the gays, lesbians, trans genders and bisexuals. Yung Miami wrote that the merch would be for the gays. She also stated that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to @glaad for LGBTQ programming.
Fans dug up the rappers’ old tweet where she tweeted that if she sees any gay signs in her son, she will beat him so bad. On November 13, 2018, Miami found herself in more trouble after her appearance on The Breakfast Club. She clarified what she meant while speaking to host Charlamagne Tha God. “I didn’t tweet nothing about them (The LGBTQ community) l was just talking about my son. I just said that if l saw anything gay in my son, that l would beat him,” Miami said.
Fans criticized her for her past comments, accusing her of using the LGBTQ community for financial gains. Others accused her of using gayness as an accessory. A Twitter user tweeted, “ Lol I do not feel like this is genuine... I feel like she’s gay baiting... And l hope y’all don’t fall for it.”
Miami’s best friend, rapper Saucy Santana is a gay man who has been found openly expressing that he does not want a gay son in future. In an interview for VH1s, Santana was asked if he wants to have kids. “I feel like if l have a son, l wouldn’t want my son to be gay. And not because nothing is wrong with it, but because of everything I went through,” Santana said. Santana also claimed that growing up gay was not easy and he wouldn’t want his children to go through the same things. Other fans claim that Miami has learnt from her mistakes and shouldn’t be slammed for her past comments. The rapper is yet to respond to the backlash.
