Detroit rapper, Dank Demoss appeared on the breakfast club to further explain her experience with Lyft and call for inclusivity. Dank Demoss has caused a lot of online debate following her interview during the breakfast club. Demoss who refers to herself as ‘obese’ asked for a bigger chair during the show and was presented with a couch. “This is what I’m talking about. Good. This is accommodation,” she said while sitting down.

Demoss expressed that she has had difficulties with her weight but she doesn’t understand why it is so difficult for people to just accommodate her. Bigger people should be accommodated just like we accommodate the LGBT community,” Demoss said.

Lyft also went on to say that she could fit in the car she was denied access. She alleged she had been in smaller cars and it was comfortable for her, hence coming to a conclusion that the driver was being fatphobic towards her. When asked about the online uproar accusing her of getting the driver fired, she said, The thing that bothered me for real that made me make that video is because they kept on saying I got the man fired I never contacted them I never did nothing.”

Charlemagne, one of the breakfast club host told the rapper that at times, it may be difficult to accommodate everyone, however the rapper insists that “we should.” She went ahead to detail the struggles of “bigger people” both inside the house and outside, claiming that indoors, they are asked why they are not active and outdoors, they are asked why they are not indoors. She claims that most times, she gets stared at a lot and she believes it is because she is “obese.”

After filing a lawsuit against Lyft, a Lyft spokesperson told The Post that the company couldn’t comment on specific incidents caught up in litigation but they condemned discrimination. “Lyft unequivocally condemns all forms of discrimination — we believe in a community where everyone is treated with equal respect and mutual kindness,” the spokesperson said.
