Detroit rapper, Skilla Baby has offered to pay got the funeral of 13 year old Na’Ziyah. Na’Ziyah’s tragic case has caused discourse on social media since authorities presume that she was murdered by her 41 year old aunt’s boyfriend, Jarvis Butts. According to court documents, Na’Ziyah was pregnant with Butts’ child at the time of her death.
Authorities suspect that Butts picked her up after she got off the school bus and attempted to perform a homemade abortion. Butts is set to face trial on January 16, 2025 and is charged with premeditated murder, second – degree criminal sexual conduct and child sexually abusive activity. Butts is also accused of sexually abusing two other young girls in separate incidents, In which one of the victims, a 4 year old child contracted Chlamydia after the assault.
Skilla baby shared a photo of Na’Ziyah and wrote, “Wow #justice4Naziyah and normally I would donate money to the family but from what I hear, the family failed her… but I will cover the whole cost for us as a community to come together and celebrate Na’Ziyah’s life…” After Skilla’s offer, Na’Ziyah’s cousin expressed gratitude via social media. “Sir, I truly want to thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart for your offering. This has took a tremendous amount off my plate and I can not thank you enough. I would like to hold a COMMUNITY WIDE MEMORIAL SERVICE for my cousin Naziyah. (Purple heart emojis). #justicefornaziyah.”
According to reports, Na’Ziyah’s grandmother said she started getting concerned when she learned she didn’t get home that night, but she waited until the morning of Jan. 10 to report her missing to authorities. Around that day, Butts was scheduled to turn himself in on a gun charge. Text records allege that Butts knew Harris was pregnant and that he began searching online about abortions, abortion pills and drinking red anti-freeze. Authorities also alleged that Butts had a tendency of courting and dating women as a way of getting close to their children and sexually abusing them.
