Royce Reed claims shares a cease and desist letter from her child’s father, Dwight Howard over a 9 part video she shared on social media. Reed is a social media influencer who has also appeared on reality TV. She is most known for popping up in the hit show “Basketball Wives.” In the video, Reed did not mention Howard but social media users connected the story and claimed Reed was referring to Howard. She accused the former All-Star of depleting her assets and costing her opportunities over the years.
“After this man took everything from us (my savings, my mother’s savings and my dignity) he still proceeded to harass and belittle me,” Reed wrote. “I am now being threatened with yet ANOTHER LAWSUIT because they want to take away my voice again and silence me.” Reed also refers to Howard as a “deadbeat” and an emotionally unavailable. She went ahead to claim that Howard was not a supportive partner towards her and her dreams. She also accused him of being physically abusive.
After launching her “I Had A Baby By Superman” series, Royce Reed was hit with a cease and desist letter from Howard’s legal team. “I have been retained to represent Dwight Howard regarding continuing and escalating statements and potentially defamatory statements made by you against him,” the letter read. “Mr. Howard is aware of various malicious and potentially libelous statements you have published online and otherwise shared with the public. Any misrepresentations regarding his personal life and/or fabricating claims may have already and certainly could cause significant damage to Mr. Howard’s reputation in the future.”
Royce Reed was further instructed to “immediately issue a public retraction that is of equal prominence and format to your false statements and remove said statements from all social media sources,” by or before January 7 th . The letter concluded, “You are hereby cautioned and instructed to cease and desist from any further dissemination or publication of false statements. Should you not take these steps, Mr. Howard is prepared to proceed with litigation. To be clear, you must immediately cease and desist from making any false claims or allegations and should immediately issue a public apology that must be clear, unequivocal and widely circulated.”
