Garcelle Beauvais is thrilled about her son's budding modeling career but is cautious about overstepping her role as his mother. Speaking with PEOPLE at the 49th Annual Gracie Awards in Beverly Hills, the RealHousewives of Beverly Hills star, 57, revealed that her 16-year-old son Jaid is following in her footsteps and pursuing modeling.
"It's crazy. It's so crazy to see," Beauvais shared with PEOPLE. "We just did a photo shoot, and he was so cool and calm, and it was wild,you know? But I think it's going to be good for him. He's kind of shy,so I think this'll help him."
She added, "He's got the chops to do it, so it'll be interesting. I don't want to be his momager. I want him to figure it out. I need him to get his license, though, so he can drive himself because I'm busy."
Beauvais is the mother of three sons: Oliver, 31, and twins Jax andJaid, 16. She is also a grandmother to Oliver's 3-year-old son, Oliver Jr.The twins were part of a significant moment in the season 13 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. During a family outing at the beach, Jax expressed his desire for more independence, leading to a heartfelt conversation about their relationship.
Jax explained that he needed more freedom and independence earlier in his life, saying, "Most of the parenting and teaching me how to live, I know how to do all of that by myself." This revelation left Beauvais feeling like she had been absent during a crucial period.
In a confessional, Beauvais admitted, "Hearing it from him is like a knife to the heart." She later apologized to her sons, and Jax reciprocated, acknowledging their growth and maturity. "I'm glad both of us can admit fault from the past and mature from that. I think I turned out fine," he said. Smiling, Beauvais agreed, "I think you're gonna turn out great."
For Christmas this year, Beauvais enjoyed quality time with her three sons and grandson. The family wore matching buffalo plaid onesies and shared laughs as they posed on the stairs together. They also opened gifts and shared cuddles during the cozy holiday celebration.
