More information concerning NFL player Marshawn Kneeland's death has been disclosed. Shortly after the Dallas Cowboys defensive end's death was announced, Texas police reported Kneeland was found dead in an apparent suicide after a car pursuit with officers.

 

"On November 5, 2025, at approximately 10:39 p.m., the Frisco Police Department responded to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with locating a vehicle that had evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the city of Frisco," according to a release from the municipality. "After losing sight of the vehicle, troopers located it minutes later, crashed on southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway."

"Initial reports indicated that a male subject, later identified as 24-year-old Marshawn Kneeland of Plano, TX, fled the scene on foot," the statement continued. "Officers established a perimeter and initiated a search of the area with the assistance of the FPD K-9 and Drone units."

According to authorities, throughout the search, officers learned that Kneeland had voiced suicidal thoughts, and his body was discovered at 1:31 a.m. local time.

"The Collin County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death," the statement said. "At this point, no further information will be shared while the inquiry is ongoing. Our sincere sympathies to the Kneeland family and friends."

Following the athlete's death, the Cowboys issued a memorial.

"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization," the team wrote in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend, Catalina, and his family."

Meanwhile, the football star's agent, Jonathan Perzley, also shared his devastation over the loss of his "dearest friend."

“I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," he wrote on Instagram. “Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words."
