Rick Ross' son was allegedly pistol-whipped by a man who threatened to kill him during a confrontation over a woman in Daytona Beach, Florida, according to police.
William Roberts III was standing with a woman near Bethune-Cookman University on the night of October 11 when a car pulled up and a man identified by police as Don Roberts, 20, got out and confronted them.
According to the arrest report, Don allegedly shouted at William, "I don't care who your daddy is, I'll kill you right here."
Police said the suspect then struck William on the side of his head with a handgun before fleeing in his vehicle. The incident reportedly left William with minor injuries.
William later told investigators he believed the confrontation stemmed from Don's previous romantic relationship with the woman he had been speaking to. He reported the incident to police and subsequently identified the alleged attacker in a photo lineup, according to authorities.
Don Roberts was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He was being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail, with one report stating that he was being held without bond.
Although the suspect and the rapper's son have similar names, police documents identify them as two different individuals.
The incident comes weeks after Rick Ross, 50, was arrested in Miami Beach on October 1 over allegations involving an ex-girlfriend. The rapper, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, turned himself in to police after being accused of attacking the woman.
Ross' attorneys, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, denied the allegations, describing him as "wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear."
The rapper faces charges of battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor battery, according to reports. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 22.
