The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that no individual, including singer and songwriter D4VD, has been named as a suspect in the ongoing investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The clarification follows widespread speculation after Rivas Hernandez’s body was discovered inside a Tesla registered to the musician earlier this month.

According to Rolling Stone, the body of Rivas Hernandez, a 15-year-old who had previously been reported missing, was found in the trunk of a Tesla impounded by authorities in Los Angeles. The vehicle had been parked for several weeks before being towed to a city impound lot, where workers later discovered the remains.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has since confirmed the identity of the victim but has deferred the cause and manner of death, pending further investigation. This designation means that the coroner’s office has not yet determined whether Rivas Hernandez’s death resulted from natural causes, an accident or foul play.

In a statement cited by multiple outlets, including Rolling Stone and ABC News, the LAPD stated that no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified in connection with the case. Detectives from the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division are continuing to gather evidence, review surveillance footage and interview witnesses as part of their ongoing investigation.

“ The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death. As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body. RHD is thoroughly examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family,” the LAPD said, in a statement obtained by Rolling Stone.

While social media speculation has linked D4VD to the case due to his ownership of the vehicle, investigators have not indicated that the artist is under investigation estigation or being treated as a person of interest. As of this week, police have maintained that the case remains open and active, with all leads being pursued.
