Sonya Curry’s recent second marriage became a hot news topic after she shared her wedding photos on Instagram. But while getting married again was supposed to be happy news for her and her family, Sonya got irked when she read a media page report about it that included details of Dell’s cheating.
According to Sonya, not only were the details inaccurate, but the infidelity issue surrounding her first marriage was also deeply painful for her and her family, and it has no place in a story about her recent wedding.
“This is exactly why people don’t want to share good news with others! Can you just share what is happening now and leave the past in the past! For the record, Dell I didn’t cite that Dell cheated with multiple women! Our family has been through enough and are finally moving forward, and this stuff is sooooooo unnecessary!” she commented on the post.
Sonya and Dell stunned the basketball world when they announced in 2020 that they had separated while accusing one another of infidelity. It was TMZ that first reported the breakup on August 23, 2021, and in that first article, it admitted it did not know the reason.
A follow-up article the next day mentioned details from the court filing, with Sonya citing Dell’s “marital misconduct” and Dell accusing Sonya of “acts of illicit sexual misconduct.” That second article also mentioned Sonya saying it was an open secret that Dell was unfaithful and had hooked up with several women. But that never came out of Mama Curry’s mouth.
During a 2022 interview with ‘The Ringer,’ Steph admitted that it was hard for him to navigate his parents’ divorce and that accepting that they had gone their separate ways was a ‘challenging experience.’
He also talked about approaching each parent after breaking Ray Allen’s 3-point record in December 2021, as they both attended that game at Madison Square Garden but were seated separately. Steph gave Dell the game ball after breaking the record in the first quarter. He was then captured hugging Sonya in the fourth quarter.
“I had to make sure I was in that moment with both of them separately, and this wasn’t just this whole kind of thing,” he told The Ringer. “That is how I choose to approach that. Because it is challenging”.
