Jennifer Hudson is celebrating a special milestone for her son, David, who has officially turned 17.
The actress, singer and talk show host marked her son's birthday with several posts on Instagram, including a recent photo and a throwback image highlighting just how much he has grown.
In her first post, Hudson shared a photo of herself posing alongside David. The teenager appeared noticeably taller than his mom as he stood beside her wearing a black T-shirt and gray sweatpants.
Hudson invited her followers to join her in celebrating the milestone and asked them to wish David a happy birthday.
"Team Jhud can yal help me wish doj a happy 17th birthday today!" she wrote in the caption.
Soon afterward, Hudson shared a throwback photo of David as a younger child. The proud mom reflected on how quickly the years have passed as she celebrated her son reaching another milestone.
"Can you believe this kid is 17 already??? Happy 17th birthday," she wrote.
Hudson welcomed David in 2009 with her former fiancé, David Otunga. Over the years, she has frequently shared glimpses of their relationship and spoken about her son's interests, particularly his passion for music.
Earlier this year, Hudson opened up about David's musical talents while discussing her upcoming tour. She explained that her son, who is also a producer, had been recreating some of her songs and had become a source of inspiration for her own music.
Hudson also credited her son and her boyfriend, Common, with inspiring her creatively as she prepared to return to the stage.
David's musical abilities have been something Hudson has celebrated publicly before. In November, she shared videos from a recording session with her son, giving fans a glimpse into their time working together in the studio.
In one clip, Hudson helped David with a vocal riff before watching proudly as he recorded. Other moments showed the teenager listening back to the recording and enjoying the experience.
The session also included plenty of playful moments between mother and son. Hudson shared footage of the pair joking around between takes, with David playfully teasing his mom.
In another clip, Hudson missed a note while recording her part of their duet, prompting both of them to burst into laughter.
Reflecting on their time together in the studio, Hudson called singing with her son one of the best parts of the experience.
As David celebrates his 17th birthday, Hudson's posts offer another glimpse into their close relationship and the musical bond they share.
