Fatherhood has brought significant changes to the way A$AP Rocky approaches both his personal life and career. The rapper recently shared that becoming a parent has influenced many of his decisions, including where he chooses to create music.
Speaking with VIBE, Rocky revealed that he no longer hosts recording sessions at home because he does not want his children exposed to the smoking that often takes place during studio gatherings. Instead, whenever inspiration strikes, he prefers to work from hotels or temporary creative spaces rather than bringing that environment into his family home.
Rocky and his longtime partner Rihanna have built a growing family since beginning their relationship in 2020. The couple are parents to three children: daughter Rocki, who is eight months old, and sons RZA, 4, and Riot, 2.
As a father, Rocky has frequently spoken about the values he hopes to instill in his children. He wants them to grow up accepting others and avoiding discriminatory attitudes. Despite being raised by two globally recognized stars, he also hopes they experience a childhood that feels as normal as possible.
Rihanna has similarly emphasized the importance of helping their children stay connected to their heritage. She previously explained that braiding her sons' hair is a meaningful cultural practice that reflects family history and ancestral traditions. For her, maintaining those customs is a way of ensuring her children understand where they come from.
Earlier this year, Rocky discussed the distinct personalities of his sons during an appearance on The New York Times Popcast. According to the rapper, RZA and Riot could not be more different. He described RZA as reserved and less social, while Riot enjoys being the center of attention and has an outgoing personality. Rocky joked that Riot loves typical childhood treats and activities and naturally draws attention whenever he enters a room.
In a separate interview with Esquire, Rocky shared more insights into life at home. He spoke affectionately about his children, noting that RZA can be a picky eater while Riot has a sweet tooth. He also laughed about the evolving dynamic between the brothers, explaining that Riot has become more confident as he gets older.
One of Rocky's favorite family stories involves his son informing Rihanna that he had quietly left the house without saying goodbye, resulting in a playful conversation between the couple once she discovered his departure.
