Dua Lipa is not expected to take part in the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, despite reports that she was approached to perform as part of the event.
The all British clash between Joshua, 36, and Fury, 37, is currently being planned for late 2026, with both fighters having agreed to terms for what has long been one of the most talked about matchups in boxing. While the fight itself has generated significant excitement, speculation around its promotional elements has also drawn attention.
Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, suggested that the event could face complications if Dua Lipa did not agree to perform. It remains unclear whether the comment was serious or made in a lighthearted manner. However, reports indicate that the singer was indeed contacted about the opportunity and chose to decline, meaning she will not be involved in the promotion or performance lineup.
Dua Lipa remains one of the most prominent figures in global pop music, known for chart topping songs such as New Rules, Don't Start Now and Levitating. Her absence from the event does not diminish the scale of the fight, which is still expected to draw widespread international attention.
A confirmed venue for the bout has yet to be announced, although Wembley Stadium is understood to be a leading option, with a potential date in October under consideration.
In recent years, major boxing events have increasingly featured high profile musical performances as part of their spectacle. Artists such as Eminem, Liam Gallagher and 50 Cent have all appeared at notable fights, adding entertainment value beyond the action in the ring.
Before the long awaited clash can take place, Joshua must first face Kristian Prenga in a scheduled bout in July, which could play a crucial role in determining whether the matchup with Fury proceeds as planned. Fury, meanwhile, recently returned to action with a victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov and is reportedly considering another fight while awaiting confirmation of the Joshua bout.
Despite years of negotiations and missed opportunities, the potential meeting between Joshua and Fury remains one of the most anticipated events in boxing. If it goes ahead, both fighters are expected to earn record breaking purses, reflecting the magnitude of the occasion.
