Seattle Storm guard Lexie Brown has revealed that she is receiving death threats following viral rumors linking her to NBA star Klay Thompson and his highly publicized breakup with Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Brown disclosed that the harassment has escalated to a point where she felt forced to hire professional security for herself and her family.
The controversy was ignited in late April after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed her split from Thompson, citing a lack of “trust, fidelity, and respect.” Almost immediately, social media speculation began naming Brown as the “other woman” involved in the alleged infidelity. Despite a prompt denial from Brown on April 26, in which she stated on Instagram, “None of it is true, and I have no involvement in this situation”, the rumors continued to gain momentum.
Speaking to Fox News, Brown described the toll the false allegations have taken on her safety. “I was getting threats on my life. I was getting threats on my health,” Brown said. “My family started getting comments and threats from people. I’ve had to hire security to travel with me places, so it got to a point where I just was scared for myself.”
The 2021 WNBA champion expressed deep disappointment with the silence from both Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion, noting that neither has moved to publicly clear her name. “The fact that I’m still the only one that is defending my name, I have no idea how to process that,” Brown said. “I wouldn’t have minded if either one of them came out and said it… because they’re the ones that are in the relationship. So one of them, if not both of them, know that it was not me.”
Brown clarified that while she knows Thompson professionally as a fellow basketball player, she does not consider him a close friend and has never met Megan Thee Stallion. She also noted the irony of the situation, pointing out that while there is often a public outcry to “protect Black women,” she has felt isolated and ignored during this ordeal.
As the WNBA preseason concludes, with Brown scoring 6 points in a Storm victory over the Portland Fire on April 29, the veteran guard remains focused on her health and her team’s upcoming season opener against the Golden State Valkyries on May 8. For now, however, her professional focus is being balanced against a personal safety crisis fueled by what she describes as a “malicious” online narrative.
