Khloe Kardashian is looking back at a romantic gesture from ex-partner Tristan Thompson that didn’t land the way he intended. Speaking on the Valentine’s Day themed episode of her podcast _Khloe in Wonder Land_ on Feb. 11, the reality star shared details of a surprise serenade organized during their on-and-off relationship, one she now describes as awkward rather than sweet.
Kardashian, 41, explained that Thompson arranged for R&B singer Giveon to perform for her on what seemed like an ordinary day. At the time, their son Tatum had not yet been born and the pair were parenting their daughter True.
 
“There was one time I was serenaded, and it was I think just a random day because I wasn’t expecting it,” she said, recalling how she was told to step outside before the performance began. While she praised the singer’s performance, Kardashian admitted her feelings toward Thompson at that point in their relationship made the moment uncomfortable.
 
“Giveon wasn’t who he was now. And he is just singing,” she said. “I remember I hated Tristan and I was like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ And Giveon is pouring his heart out. And Tristan’s trying to sit next to me and I’m like, slapping him… It was mortifying.” Trying to ease the tension, Kardashian said she brought True into the situation as a buffer. “I remember going inside to get True because I was like, ‘I just need like a third person to get [away from] Tristan.’ I was so annoyed with Tristan.”
 
Despite the awkwardness, she now views the incident more light-heartedly and praised Giveon’s professionalism. “Like, Giveon was so professional. He was so great. He didn’t break his song at all. He’s amazing, I love him,” she said, noting that the singer still jokes about performing while the couple argued.
 
Kardashian and Thompson dated on and off between 2016 and 2021, with their relationship frequently making headlines due to his infidelity scandals. The pair share two children together, True, 7, and Tatum, 3 and have since focused on co-parenting following their final split, which came after Thompson fathered another child with Maralee Nichols.
 
Although their romantic relationship ended, Kardashian has emphasized maintaining stability for their family, noting in past podcast discussions that Thompson remains present in their children’s lives   “What I find so funny is that people are always like, ‘How do you let Tristan back in?’” she said in a previous episode. “Well, Tristan is not back in. He’s just the father of my kids… I’m really grateful that he is.”
 
She added that supporting a strong relationship between Thompson and their children remains a priority, describing it as important for their wellbeing.
