“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss," Cabot said. "And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.” Cabot emphasized that the kiss and dancing were a one-time lapse, denying any sexual relationship with Byron and insisting it was the first and only physical interaction between them.
The incident unfolded during the concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where a kiss-cam panned to Cabot and Byron as they sat in the VIP section with friends. Both quickly tried to duck from view as Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked, “Either they're having an affair, or they're just really shy.” Cabot recalled, “I was so embarrassed and so horrified. I'm the head of HR and he's the CEO. It's, like, so cliché and so bad.”

At the time, both Cabot and Byron were separated from their respective spouses. Cabot’s estranged husband, Andrew Cabot, was attending the concert as well. She said her immediate concern was not embarrassing him, describing him as “nothing but a gentleman” in the aftermath. Cabot later filed for divorce, which had been in process prior to the concert.
The fallout was swift and intense. The video spread rapidly on TikTok, with Cabot receiving harassment, death threats, and public shaming. “I think as a woman, as women always do, I took the bulk of the abuse. People would say things like I was a ‘gold-digger’ or I ‘slept my way to the top,’ which just couldn't be further from reality," she said. Her children, she added, were deeply affected by the public scrutiny.
Byron resigned shortly after the viral moment, while Cabot negotiated her own resignation, acknowledging she could not continue as head of HR while under public ridicule. Despite the controversy, Cabot said she hopes for understanding rather than forgiveness, particularly for her children.
