Reality star Masika Kalysha is mourning the sudden loss of her estranged husband, Jamar Champ, who died in a car crash in Houston, Texas, on October 28. He was 38.

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after midnight on the Katy Freeway. A silver BMW was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction when it struck Champ’s TeslaCybertruck head-on. The BMW immediately burst into flames, and Champ’s vehicle then hit a nearby 18-wheeler. The BMW driver died at the scene, while Champ was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The truck driver was not injured.

Police confirmed that investigations into the crash are still underway and that an autopsy will determine whether impairment contributed to the incident.

In a statement, Masika told The Shade Room: 'It is with profound sadness that I confirm the news of the tragic and unexpected passing of my spouse and father/stepfather of my beautiful daughters, Jamar Champ. During this incredibly challenging time, I kindly ask for respect and understanding as our family comes together to support one another and honor his memory. Your thoughts, prayers and love mean the world to us as we navigate this devastating loss.'

The couple married in 2021 but separated two years later. Kalysha revealed earlier this year that they were in the process of finalizing their divorce, referring to Champ as her “soon-to-be ex-husband.” Despite their split, she had previously spoken about maintaining respect for him as a father figure in her children’s lives. Champ shared one daughter, Amari, 3, with Kalysha, and was also stepfather to her 9-year-old daughter Khari, whom she shares with rapper Fetty Wap.

Kalysha, known for her appearances on _Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood_ and _Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta_, asked for privacy as she processed the tragedy, writing, “Please keep me and my babies in your prayers.” As news of his passing spread, friends, fans, and fellow reality TV stars flooded social media with tributes, remembering Champ as “a positive force” and “a man who never stopped chasing his dreams.”
