Offset is opening up about the mistakes that led to the breakdown of his marriage with Cardi B. Speaking on the _Baby, This Is Keke Palmer_ podcast on October 7, the 33-year-old rapper admitted that his actions played a major role in their separation. “I should have respected her way more. I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out,” he told host Keke Palmer. “Gotta take that on the chin. When she left, I had to take that on the chin. … I was beingselfish, and I can say that as a man.”
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in July 2024 after six years of marriage, though the proceedings have not yet been finalized. The couple shares three children — daughters Kulture, 7, Blossom, 13 months, and son Wave, 4. Offset admitted that the constant public scrutiny made things even harder. “I wish there wasn’t so much internet stuff going on. I got out of pocket a couple of times because you feel like you’re getting bullied,” he said. “If I could rewrite the book, the relationship would never have been public.”
Offset added that both he and Cardi made mistakes. “I was definitely not perfect in this situation. I made a lot of mistakes and a lot of things that I did wrong. She did things wrong,” he said. Still, he expressed a desire to close this chapter and focus on their music careers. “I’m ready for it to be over. I feel like it’d be a louder story than what we love to do, which is music and art.”
The rapper also addressed persistent rumours that he had an affair with Saweetie, calling the claims false. “No, it was rumoured, man,” he explained. “I feel like it was something deeper than that for the split of me and bro. We’re men; we don’t play those games.”
Meanwhile, Cardi shared her own perspective during an appearance on the _On Purpose_ and _Jay Shetty_ podcasts. “I felt the love dying,” she said. “It took months for the heart to say, ‘You’re done.’” Despite the public ups and downs, both artists seem ready to move forward, separately, with their personal lives and creative paths.
