Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s daughter has reached an exciting milestone, starting first grade with the full support of her proud parents.
Union marked the big day with an Instagram post filled with photos and videos of Kaavia looking confident and cheerful. “Proof that time doesn’t walk, it sprints #firstgrade,” she wrote in the caption.
Kaavia was picture-ready in her school uniform, a forest green polo shirt paired with a matching skirt. She styled her hair in two neat braids and added a headband, completing the look with light blue Nike sneakers.
On her first day, she filled out a school board introducing herself. Kaavia shared that she is 6 and ¾ years old, her favorite color is light blue to match her shoes, and her favorite activities include “hanging out with my besties” and plenty of playtime.
Her favorite food is a Nutella wrap, and when asked about her future ambitions, Kaavia revealed she hopes to become a teacher or a dance teacher. That dream has shifted since her kindergarten graduation, when she proudly declared she wanted to be an actor while speaking in front of the crowd.
The first-day excitement was shared by her parents, who snapped photos side by side while smiling proudly. Union reposted a clip of the moment on her Instagram Stories with the playful caption, “Any other parents do this?!?!”
Kaavia seemed delighted to begin this new chapter. She beamed in one picture while sitting at her desk and appeared hand-in-hand with a friend in another.
Lately, Union has been reflecting on how quickly her daughter is growing up. She recently posted a touching montage of Kaavia through the years, from her baby days to her lively girlhood. “Time may fly but my love for you will never @kaaviajames who’s cutting onions? ,” Union wrote.
