Coco Gauff has retained her status as the highest-earning female athlete in the world, bringing in a total of  $37.2million in the past year.

In the most recent Forbes’ annual rich list of tennis players, 21-year-old Gauff ranks third behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Her on-court earnings of $12.2m, after she won a second major title at the French Open, are dwarfed by $25m in endorsements.

Bose, New Balance and hair care company Carol’s Daughter are among the brands looking to associate themselves with one of the most marketable and articulate athletes in the world.

In fourth place in Forbes’ top 10 is Novak Djokovic, with $29.6m, followed by world No1 Aryna Sabalenka, whose total of $27.4m sees her rise five spots from last year’s list.

Chinese star Qinwen Zheng is in sixth place with $26.1m, followed by Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek ($24m).

Then come two Americans, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe at $15.6m and $15.2m respectively. Former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev rounds out the top 10 with $14.3m in earnings.

Gauff’s earnings have risen by around $10m from last year and she comes into the US Open looking to boost that by another $5m by winning the title here for a second time.
