Metro Boomin, one of hip-hop’s most successful producers, is heading to trial over a civil sexual assault lawsuit after several attempts to settle the case out of court fell apart. The case, filed in late 2024 by Vanessa LeMaistre, accuses the Grammy-winning producer of raping her in 2016 and will now be presented before a federal jury this September in Los Angeles.
According to the lawsuit, LeMaistre claims she met Metro Boomin at his recording studio in Beverly Hills, where he allegedly gave her half a Xanax pill and alcohol. She says she later lost consciousness and woke up in a hotel room where the producer was assaulting her. In her account, the incident resulted in an unplanned pregnancy, which she later chose to terminate.
The allegations also reference lyrics in a track Metro Boomin produced the following year, which LeMaistre believes mirrored the events she endured. She argues the lyrics reflected her trauma and suggested a disturbing overlap between her experience and the music.
Over the past year, both parties engaged in multiple mediation sessions, including one in July 2025, in hopes of avoiding a courtroom battle. Despite lengthy negotiations, no agreement was reached. LeMaistre’s attorneys said they mediated in good faith but are now prepared to lay out the evidence publicly.
Metro Boomin, whose real name is Leland Tyler Wayne, has strongly denied the accusations. His attorney dismissed the lawsuit as a baseless attempt to damage the producer’s reputation and vowed to fight the case in court. They have suggested they may pursue a countersuit for malicious prosecution if he is cleared of wrongdoing.
The upcoming trial casts a shadow over the career of one of hip-hop’s most celebrated producers. Known for shaping the sound of modern rap through collaborations with Drake, Future, 21 Savage, and Travis Scott, Metro Boomin remains at the top of his field with chart-topping albums and high-profile projects. Yet the upcoming trial threatens to dominate headlines and raise questions about accountability in the music industry. If the jury rules in LeMaistre’s favor, the case could result in substantial damages and leave a lasting mark on Metro Boomin’s reputation.
