After his dramatic arrest earlier this month at a San Antonio mall, Duke Dennis finally addressed the incident live on his stream and labeled it a “big misunderstanding.” On August 2, 2025, the 31 year old streamer, real name Denzel Shaquille Dennis, was arrested at the Shops at Rivercenter following a late night game of hide and seek conducted inside the closed premises.

Security and law enforcement confronted him and other AMP crew members, including Kai Cenat, and asked them to leave. According to police, Dennis refused and allegedly fled when officers tried to detain him, resulting in charges of criminal trespassing and evading arrest. He was detained around 10:30 p.m. and released after posting bail on Sunday, August 3, at roughly 11:39 p.m.

Shortly after his release, Dennis cryptically broke his silence via Instagram, posting a story that read, “Officially on vacation, need suggestions on where to go… See y’all later.” Now, in his first on stream response, he described the event not as a stunt gone wrong but as a misunderstanding, and a situation he was not allowed to speak about in detail. His comments suggested there are legal limitations on what he can say about the case.

Despite the charges being misdemeanors, the spectacle quickly went viral, with videos of Duke Dennis handcuffed on the mall floor circulating widely. His arrest sparked intense discussion about the line between streaming content and public disruption. Fellow AMP members such as Fanum and ImDavisss have weighed in, calling it either a stupid situation or one that was blown out of proportion, though they largely declined to go into legal specifics.

Even with his limited words, Dennis’s statement has already calmed fans worried about serious fallout. By framing it as a misunderstanding, he appears to be distancing himself from malicious intent and emphasizing the accidental nature of the incident.
