Zoë Kravitz has shared her first thoughts on Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated 12th studio album, _The Life of a Showgirl_. Speaking to _Extra_ on Sunday, August 17, she said she had “heard bits o it.” Sitting alongside co-star Austin Butler while promoting their upcoming film _Caught Stealing_, Kravitz described the album as “fantastic, of course. No skips.” When the interviewer noted, “No skips? That’s
rare,” Kravitz replied, “For her, it’s not.”
Swift announced the album on August 13 via an appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s _New Heights_ podcast. During the episode, the 14-time Grammy winner shared that she had written the music while performing on her 21-month-long Eras Tour, adding that the LP features “all bangers.” She also revealed the album’s track list, includin songs like “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “Honey,” “Actually Romantic,” “CANCELLED!,” “Eldest Daughter,” “Father Figure,” “Opalite,” and “The Fate of Ophelia,” with Sabrina Carpenter featured on the title track. Kravitz has long been a close friend of Swift. Their friendship grew closer during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 while they were in London.
During the Los Angeles wildfires, Swift offered her and her mother, Lisa Bonet, a place to stay. She recalled a chaotic final day at Swift’s home when he mother’s pet snake, Orpheus, managed to slip into a small hole in the bathroom while her mother was washing her face. Despite their attempts to retrieve it, the effort ended up causing significant damage to the bathroom.
Kravitz also praised Swift’s dedication to her craft, telling E! News, “She always brings it. This is what she does. It’s fun to sit back and watch everyone devour what she makes, and she cares so much. She puts everything she has into it.” The actress highlighted the closeness of their friendship, noting that after performing at massive venues, Swift would come over to spend time together, sharing wine and burgers, in a way that made it hard to imagine she had just performed at Wembley Stadium.
The Life of a Showgirl_ is set for release on October 3, with production handled by Swift, Max Martin, and Shellback.
