What began as a Hollywood friendship has now evolved into family. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, two titans of comedy, have officially become in-laws through the marriage of their children, Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence. The couple, who had been dating for several years, tied the knot in a private ceremony this May, bringing together two iconic legacies in a love story that feels straight out of a movie.
Eddie Murphy, speaking at the premiere of his new film The Pickup, revealed that Jasmin was already like family long before the vows were exchanged. "They were together for a couple years, so she already had been in the family," he said, adding that there was no big wedding, just a quiet celebration of love.
Murphy, now 64, is in no rush for the couple to start a family of their own. "I'm never pushing them," he said. "It's a beautiful blessing, and whenever it happens, it happens." His approach reflects a deep respect for his son's independence and a modern view of parenting grown children;supportive, but never overbearing.
Martin Lawrence shares that same philosophy. In a previous appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he described Eric as "a great young man," and explained that both he and Eddie value letting their kids "make their choices and stay out of their business." He even joked that their decision to elope saved him the cost of a grand wedding, a sentiment Eddie humorously echoed.
The newlyweds, Eric, 36, and Jasmin, 29, are not only beloved by their famous parents but also by fans, who have followed their relationship online. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Jasmin wrote, "God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny." Eric has been equally vocal, calling Jasmin the "love of his life" and the person who makes "time stand still."
While they may have chosen a low-key ceremony, their story is anything but ordinary. In an industry known for fleeting romances, their bond stands out as sincere and grounded. For Eddie and Martin, the connection goes beyond comedy—it's now family. And for Eric and Jasmin, it's just the beginning of a love story written with grace, laughter, and legacy.
