Taye Diggs has opened up about the strong co-parenting relationship he shares with ex-wife Idina Menzel, calling her the "driver of the bus" when it comes to raising their son, 15-year-old Walker Diggs. The actor praised Menzel's unwavering dedication and emphasized the mutual respect they've maintained since their separation.

Diggs, known for his roles in "The Best Man" and "Rent," explained in a recent interview with Today that their approach has always been child-first. "It only works if we think about him first," he said. "We can't help but respect each other and what we're all bringing."

The pair, who met during the 1993 musical Rent, were married for a decade before divorcing in 2014. Despite the end of their romantic relationship, both have committed to a collaborative parenting model focused on stability and love for their son.

Menzel, now married to actor Aaron Lohr, has also spoken about the importance of shielding Walker from unnecessary stress. In an earlier interview, she emphasized avoiding any behavior that could make him feel caught between parents. "We never speak poorly of the other," she said. "I'm proud of us for putting him first."

Though Walker occasionally appears with his parents at public events, Menzel remains protective of his privacy. She admitted feeling conflicted about his exposure to the spotlight but supports his decision when he chooses to attend. "I'm proud of him, so I loved showing him off," she shared, while acknowledging the parental dilemma of balancing pride with protection.

Their efforts have not gone unnoticed by fans and parenting experts alike. The pair have become an example of how high-profile families can successfully navigate separation without sacrificing the well-being of their children.

Their co-parenting style proves that even after love ends, respect and teamwork can flourish when the focus remains where it matters most: on the child.
