In a significant development in the 2020 shooting case involving rapper Megan Thee Stallion, new allegations have emerged that could potentially alter the narrative. Bradley James, a former bodyguard for Kelsey Harris, Megan’s ex-friend and assistant, has come forward with claims that he overheard Harris admitting to firing the shots that injured Megan.
During a press conference held by Unite The People, a social justice organization advocating for Tory Lanez’s release, James stated that he was present during a conversation where Harris allegedly confessed to possessing the firearm and discharging it three times. He further claimed that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, intervened by grabbing Harris’s arm, causing the gun to fire two additional times. James emphasized that Lanez did not shoot Megan and that his conscience compelled him to speak out, as he was not bound by any confidentiality agreements.
These revelations align with earlier testimony from Sean Kelly, an eyewitness who reported seeing two women engaged in a physical altercation, followed by two men attempting to separate them, and then hearing gunshots. He also states that the gunshots came from the passenger side, where Harris was reportedly sitting. Lanez’s legal team argues that this new information supports their claim of his innocence and highlights inconsistencies in the initial investigation, such as the lack of DNA testing on other potential suspects.
Despite these assertions, Megan Thee Stallion’s attorney, Alex Spiro, maintains that the case was thoroughly adjudicated, resulting in Lanez’s conviction. He stated, “Tory was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers, and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system.”
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the shooting incident. Recently, he was hospitalized after being stabbed 14 times in prison, an event that has intensified discussions surrounding his conviction and the new claims brought forth by James.
As of now, neither Kelsey Harris nor Megan Thee Stallion has publicly responded to these new allegations. The emergence of this testimony has reignited debates over the case, with Lanez’s supporters calling for a reevaluation of the evidence and his potential exoneration.
