Kendrick Lamar has once again solidified his status as a dominant force in hip-hop, leading the nominations for the 2025 BET Awards with an impressive 10 nods. The ceremony, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is set to air live on June 9 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with comedian Kevin Hart returning as host.

 

Lamar’s nominations span several major categories, including Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed project GNX. His chart-topping single “Not Like Us” earned him nods for Video of the Year and the Viewer’s Choice Award. Additionally, Lamar received three nominations in the Best Collaboration category for his work on “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin, “Luther” featuring SZA, and “30 for 30” with SZA. He is also recognized in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category and as Video Director of the Year alongside Dave Free.

Following closely behind Lamar are Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla, each garnering six nominations. Doechii’s debut album Alligator Bites Never Heal and her single “Denial is a River” have positioned her as a strong contender in multiple categories. Drake’s collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PartyNextDoor, along with his solo efforts, have earned him nominations across both hip-hop and R&B categories. Future’s joint project with Metro Boomin, We Don’t Trust You, and their hit “Like That” featuring Lamar, have also secured multiple nominations.

Lamar’s leading nominations at the BET Awards follow a successful year, including five Grammy wins and a groundbreaking solo performance during the Super Bowl halftime show. His ongoing Grand National Tour with SZA continues to receive acclaim, further cementing his influence in the music industry.

The 2025 BET Awards aim to honor achievements across music, television, film, and sports, with categories such as Best New Artist, Best Group, and Best International Act. This year’s ceremony will also feature special tributes celebrating the show’s 25-year history, including a reunion of “106 & Park” hosts and performances by artists like Bow Wow, Amerie, and B2K.
