Florence El Luche has issued an apology after a clip of her being colorist towards fellow cast member Amara La Negra went viral. In the viral episode, Luche calls Amara ugly and a black bitch. She went ahead to claim that Amara is jealous she is light skin. She doubled-down by claiming dark skin women hate on light skin women. Amara accused Luche of selling skin bleaching products and encouraging women to bleach their skin.
Florence Luche took to her Instagram account to issue an apology. “I want to take this opportunity to address the recent scene that was aired and the conversations it has sparked,” she began. “ I take full accountability for the words I said during that moment and I deeply regret how they may have come across. I never intended to hurt or diminish anyone, and I sincerely apologize to anyone who felt offended and disrespected by my words.”
She insisted that she takes full responsibility for what she said, however, the moment shown “does not tell the full story.” She claims the way it was presented lacked important context but does not change the fact that her words had an impact.
She went ahead to deny claims that she sells bleaching creams, writing : “As a proud black woman with deep ties to my Haitian heritage. I stand firmly against colorism. The product I sell is not a bleaching cream ; it is designed to even skin tone and support healthy, glowing skin. I support black beauty in all its form and am committed to empower women of every shade.”
She wrote that the experience has been a learning moment for her. “It reminded me of the power of words and the importance of using them carefully, even in moments of frustration. Moving forward, I will be more intentional about my actions and continue to focus on unity, love and positivity.”
She concluded by thanking everyone who has supported her and “understands her heart.” She claims she is grateful for the chance to grow from what happened and stand stronger in the values she believes in. Amara La Negra is yet to respond to the apology.
