Coming in a reveal  that surprised even the honoree himself, actor-director John Krasinski has been crowned People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. The announcement, made during the November 12 episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, marks a significant milestone for the 45-year-old star who first captured hearts as Jim Halpert on NBC's "The Office."

"Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts," Krasinski told People magazine, describing his reaction to the news. The Brooklyn-based father of two has transformed from beloved sitcom star to Hollywood powerhouse, directing successful films like "A Quiet Place" while maintaining his on screen presence in action-packed roles such as "Jack Ryan."

The transition wasn't always smooth sailing. "I had to pitch the studio like 54 times before they said yes," Krasinski revealed about his directorial debut, adding that executives questioned whether "Jim from The Office" could handle such a project.

His wife of 14 years, actress Emily Blunt, shared his excitement about the title. The couple, who collaborated on "A Quiet Place," have built both a family and creative partnership since their 2010 wedding. They now reside in Brooklyn with their daughters Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8.

The announcement follows Patrick Dempsey's 2023 reign as Sexiest Man Alive. Dempsey, 58, had previously reflected on his own selection, telling People, "I was completely shocked. I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I've always been a bridesmaid!"

Krasinski joins an elite group of past honorees including Chris Evans (2022), Paul Rudd (2021), and Idris Elba (2018). The magazine's annual election has become a cultural touchstone since its inception with Mel Gibson in 1985.

Beyond the cover story, People recognized other celebrities in specialized categories. "Saltburn" star Jacob Elordi, 27, earned "Sexiest New Heartthrob," while Robert Pattinson claimed "Sexiest First-Time Dad" following the birth of his daughter with Suki Waterhouse earlier this year.

Krasinski maintains his characteristic humor about the title's impact on his home life. "I think it's going to make me do more household chores," he joked. "After this comes out, she'll be like, 'All right, that
